Biography

Comfort is the son of John Eaton and Hannah Johnson.

Birth date of 26 May 1772 in Adams, Massachusetts in notes of Richard Eaton from 1990^[1]

Moved from Massachusetts (probably North Adams, Berkshire county) to settle in Fairfield, NY in 1788 a year after his brother John.^[2]

Alternatively, he settled in Herkimer Co., NY, where he was a merchand and officer of the county.^[3]

The marriage to Polly Griffing (often spelled Griffith) is cited in a number of books. The death records of Alvin Case Eaton^[4] tie Comfort to Mary after Polly's death in New York. She ends up in Ohio with her son presumably after Comfort dies in the 1850 Census.
