John E. Echerd (Locomotive Engineer) was born July 12, 1888 in Taylorville, N.C. He began working on the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad Jan 17, 1910. His "Last Run" was Nov 4, 1954, St. Louis, Mo., to Beardstown, Ill. on passenger train No. 47.

Mr. Echerd and his wife Myrtle live in Beardstown, Ill. They have one son, Edgar, who lives in Dallas, Texas and another son, Maurice who died in 1938.
