Her father Francis passed away on 25 February 1911 when he fell from his horse, fracturing his skull. Her mother remarried.
Irma married Canadian born Alex C MacDonald (the son of Alexander MacDonald and Katherine Cook) on 11 October 1919 at Greenfield, Franklin, Massachusetts[2]. Alex was also her stepfather's brothers.
They had at least eight children, including:
John Daniel MacDonald (b. 10 Jan 1920, d. abt 2000)
Francis Alexander MacDonald (b. 5 Jan 1923, d. 13 Apr 2008)
Dorothy Louise MacDonald (b. 9 Mar 1928, d. 17 Aug 1991)
Ralph MacDonald (b. 29 Aug 1936, d. 30 Jul 2008)
In the US Census dated 1920 Irma V Macdonald (aged 18 and married ) was recorded in the household of her stepfather John D McDonald (43) in Cambridge Ward 7, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Also in the household was her mother Belinda MacDonald (45) and her siblings Percy A Eddy (22), Joseph Eddy (14), William J Eddy (13), Susie Eddy (12) and Raymond E Eddy (8).
In the US Census dated 1940 Irma MacDonald (aged 34) was recorded living with her husband Alexander MacDonald (47) and their five children John D McDonald (20), Francis A McDonald (17), Dorothy L McDonald (12), Ralph McDonald (3) and Edward L McDonald (8 months) at Sonin Ward 18, Boston, Boston City, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
Irma had been living in Lake View, Ontario, Canada when she petitioned for Naturalisation on 4 November 1943 at the District Court in Massachusetts.
Her husband Alexander died on 15 July 1957.
She passed away on 4 November 1968 and was buried at Lake Grove Cemetery, Holliston, Middlesex County, Massachusetts[3].
