Thomas H. Edkins was born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England[1] and was baptized there 11 March 1832 although his parents were from Warwickshire, England. Before the birth of his brother in 1834, he had moved to Warwickshire where he lived for the remainder of his life.[2][3][4][5][6][7] In 1851, he worked as a toll gate keeper[8] and was a marine store dealer in 1861,[9] 1871,[10] and 1881[11] but appears to have retired by 1891.[12] He married Sarah Waring 7 Apr 1857 in Beaudesert, Warwickshire[13] and they had seven children. Thomas died Jan 1893 in Stratford-upon-Avon[14] and was buried 24 Jan 1893 in Beaudesert.[15]
