In the name of god amen the twenty Sixt Day of September 1799 I Caleb Edmeston of the State of South Charolinia and County of Pendlenton farmer being very sick and weak in body But in perfit mind and memory thanks to god for the Same and Caling to mind the mortalety of the Body and know that it is apointed for all men once to Die Do make and ordain this My Last Will and testment that is to Say princepaly and first of all I give and Recomend my Soul into the hands of god that give it and for my Body Recomend it to the Earth to be buried in a Cristain Lick Desent Maner at the Descration of my Executors nothen Douting but at the general Resorection I Shall Receve the Same by the almighty powr of god and taking Such worldy Estate Wherwoth it hath pleased god to Bliss me With in this life I give Devise and Despose of the same in mener and form foloing that is to Say fir't I impowr and Authorise these my Executors to Sell and Despose of Three Bee hives the pleans Drain knife foolage and broad axe and hand saw and if these articels are not Suficent to pay the Debt for the Executors to sell such things as can be best spaired to pay it Second I Bequath to my Wife margrat hir liven on the land as long as She lives Third I Bequeath to my Daughters Elesabath ann and haster the plantation Wher Moses Whetly now livs to be kep on Rent till one of the girls maries then to be Sold and the prise of it Equaly Devided amongst the three and let ther Schooling be payed out of the Rent and the Remainder be kept for their use forth I Bequith to my son Joseph the tract of land that I am upon fift if any of theis my heairs Should Die without Ishue thier part to be Equaly Devided amongst the Rest Sixt the horses and Catel Sheep and hogs to be for the use of the femelay Lastly I Do apoint and authorise my wife Margret and Nicolas Welsh to be my Executors of this my Will and Testament in Ritings and Whereof I do heronto Sate my hand and Seal the Day and year first above Written Signed Sealed in presens of us Robert Rankin John Watson this third Day of October 1799 in the Second articel of the forgoing Will I make this alteration that my wife margret Shall have the forsaid plantation or tract of land hir Lifetime or During hir Widowhood Singed Sealed in the presens of us Robert Rankin William Welch Calib Edmiston Will Recorded Book - (a) Pag---13 John Harris
