Biography

Philip Egerton, knight[1]

Sir Philip Egerton of Egerton and Oulton, Cheshire was the son of Philip Egerton and Joanna Smith.

He married Eleanor Brereton, daughter of Sir Randle Brereton.[2]

Philip and Eleanor had children:

  1. John Egerton, died 1590; and
  2. Eleanor Egerton, who was married to Randle Brereton of Malpas and Shocklach.

In 1 Elizabeth I [17 November, 1558-16 November, 1559], Philip Egerton of Olton, Cheshire, knight, and Eleanor, his wife, granted to Urian Brereton, knight, and Peter Moston, esq, lands, tenements, etc in Chester.[3]

Philip Egerton, knight, died on on the feast of Kenelm the king and martyr, that is 17 July, 1563, and he was buried on the following Wednesday at Little Budworth, Cheshire.[1]

His wife, Lady Elenora Egerton, survived him and dying on 3 November, 1567, she was buried on 6 November, also at Little Budworth, Cheshire.[1]
