(223 p. 37 Marriage Register, Parish of Rosemarkie, 1833; Donald Elder , Sawyer, Parish of Croy , and Ann Bain of this Parish [Parish of Rosmarkie] were married after regular proclamations on the First Day of November, Eighteen Hundred and thirty three years.)

Ann went to live at Croy after the marriage and their first child John was born there. Their other children were born at Elgin with the exception of Ann at Rosmarkie in 1836. Donald and Ann Elder went to NZ after their son John’s arrival there in 1862 and bought a Queen’s Grant of land of 11 acre in Dunedin area. Then lived at Kerrytown next to John on a few acres bought from him until he died in 1886. Ann died after Donald in 1913. Esmé Jones g-grandmother Elizabeth Elsie Jane CARBIS (b. 1901) at age 13 was alone with her that night.

Donald Elder and his wife Ann are buried in Pleasant Point Cemetery---just outside Kerrytown at South Canterbury.
