ELLEM-BROWN
Wedding At Barcaldine
When Miss Dorothy May Brown entered the Barcaldine Methodist Church on Monday afternoon with her father, for her marriage to Mr Charlea Henry Ellem, she was gowned in white angel skin lace over satin. The bodice was shirred in front on the shoulders, falling full to just above the waistline, which was attached to a flared skirt with a pointed top. The skirt gradu- ated into a gra****l train. The bride's lovely gown was finished with a Peter Pan collar, long sleeves puffed at the shoulders, and featuring white satin buttons at the wrists, corresponding with tiny buttons down the front of the bodice. She wore a cut tulle veil with a coronet of orange blossoms and tiny arum lilies, and she carried a bouquet of white roses, carnations, and lilies of the valley, tied with satin ribbons.
The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr A. C. Brown, and stepdaughter of Mrs Brown, Willow Street, Barcaldine, and the bridegroom is the second son of the late Mr W. Ellem and of Mrs M. J. Ellem, Allkin Villa, Fir Street, Barcaldine.
Miss Beryl Ellem, sister of the bridegroom, was the bridesmaid, and she wore a frock of pink lace patterned organza, with short, puffed sleeves, and a high collar, trimmed with shirring on the shoulders and tiny covered buttons.
The waistline was finished with narrow velvet ribbon, tied in front with a bow, and falling to the hem of the very full flared skirt. Her hat was of the same material as her frock, in the picture style, finished with tiny bows of bebe velvet ribbon. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and chrysanthemums, arranged with a silver bow and green tulle.
The best man was Mr Lloyd Ellem, brother of the bridegroom, and Rev. A. S. Rothwell officiated.
The wedding breakfast was held on the spacious western veranda of the bridegroom's mother's residence, when the usual congratulations and expressions of good luck were extended to Mr and Mrs Ellem.
Mrs A. C. Brown received the guests in a frock of brown satin-backed sheer, with a posy of violets at the neckline and black accessories. Mrs M. J. Ellem chose dark brown crepe rosa with a posy to tone, and brown accessories.
Mr and Mrs Ellem joined Monday afternoon's mail train for a tour of the northern rivers of New South Wales. For travelling the bride wore a frock of coachman green Continental sheer, shirred on the shoulders. The bodice was relieved with bars of bitter sweet sheer, and she wore a cravat and black accessories. On their return they will take up their Mellew selection.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a wristlet watch, and to the bridesmaid a cut crystal dressing table clock. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a valet set.
