Biography

Reuben James Ellem was born on 19 March 1882 in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia ^[1], the son of Richard Ellem and Isabella Ellen Hadley and he was the brother of Susannah Matilda Ellem, Emily Alice (Ellem) Tapper, Charles Frederick Ellem, Martha Ann (Ellem) Tapper, Richard Henry Ellem, Isabella Pearl (Ellem) Watkins and May Hilda (Ellem) Shepherd.

He married Florence Ferguson on 12 July 1902 in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia ^[2] and their son Owen James Ellem was born on 23 April 1903. Sadly, Florence died 9 days after her baby's birth, on 2 May 1903 in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia.

Five years later, Reuben married Kathleen Egan on 12 February 1908 in Lismore, New South Wales, Australia ^[3] and their children were Francis A Ellem, James Reuben Ellem, Mary I Ellem, Annie Hilda (Ellem) Macclement and Kathleen Veronica (Ellem) Bickley.

Sadly, Kate died on 6 August 1919 leaving Reuben with a number of young children.

On 19 February 1923 Reuben married Georgina May Robson at MacLean, New South Wales, Australia ^[4].

Reuben died on 15 November 1955 in Auburn, New South Wales, Australia ^[5]. Reuben and his wife Georgina were buried in the Rookwood General Cemetery, Rookwood, New South Wales, Australia ^[6].
