Biography

Bessie (Ellis) Thomas was born in St. Just, Cornwall, England.

Elizabeth was born in 1883 to Peter Ellis and Elizabeth Toman. ^[1]

She was baptised in the School Room in St Just, Bible Christian. ^[2]

Her parents divorced when she was very young. In 1891, she was living with her grandparents. ^[3]

She soon emigrated to the U.S. with her mother. In 1900, she was living with her now-remarried mother and stepfather, Thomas Chapple. ^[4]

In 1903, she married John Thomas, a miner. ^[5] They had 7 children ^[6]:

Elizabeth became widowed when her husband died soon after the 1920 census was taken. She passed away in 1925. ^[7]

The Find-a-Grave information on her family is completely incorrect. She is wrongly attached to a family that lived and died in Michigan. McHugh-842 12:48, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
