Parish register entry, per 'Annes' of RootsChat, gives parents as Thomas Eley and his wife Mary, late Mary Dickinson of Ipswich widow, formerly Mary Baker spinster of Levington.

Neither Thomas or Mary found in 1841 census.

Suffolk Record Office has sn apprenticeship indenture dated 9.7.1795 for William Eley, a poor boy, to Richard Wilkinson of Tunstall, farmer.

A grandson Thomas Brightwell, aged 8. was living with them in 1851. (b. 1843 Eyke, to John Brightwell and Sarah Martin, who married Mildenhall 1825 - a Sarah Martin was chr. Hadleigh 1808, no parents named).

Maria is also with them - not certain whether she is shown as widowed or unmarried, but she is still under her maiden name - and appears also to have witnessed John's wedding in that name later that year.
