Biography

Frank Emler, born on January 28, 1905, in San Francisco, California, was the fifth child of John P and Ida Emler. Alongside siblings Aloysius, John Walter, Carl, and Leo, he grew up, but the family faced sorrowful losses. Aloysius succumbed to Diphtheria on December 17, 1904, and John Walter passed away due to an undisclosed illness on March 8, 1906.

Their challenges continued after the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, which destroyed their home at 251 Lexington Street. Undeterred, they relocated to the Ingleside District, where John Emler constructed a new home at 266 Miramar Avenue, their residence until its sale in 1969. In 1907, the family anticipated welcoming their sixth child, Ida, but sadly, she passed away at birth.

Tragedy struck again in 1913 with the passing of Frank's mother at home. His mother's sisters Katherine and Anna Deuser stepped in to support the family. John Emler remarried twice, and a new sibling, Elizabeth June Emler, was born in 1923.

During their free time, Frank and his brother Carl shared their musical talents, performing in San Francisco's music halls and on the radio. They even marketed their compositions as sheet music and records. Frank was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, working as a driver for various trucking companies and as a tour guide for Grayline Tours in San Francisco.

On November 15, 1924, Frank married Vivian Fawx in San Francisco, and they welcomed a son named Jack Emler. They made their home at 266 Miramar Avenue until Vivian passed away in 1968. Subsequently, in November 1968, Frank married Kathleen Mace.

Frank's journey concluded on February 1, 1974, in San Mateo, California^[1] The funeral ceremony took place at Sullivan Funeral Home on Market Street, followed by services at Saint Cecilia Catholic Church and the burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, San Mateo, California.
