Orrin was born 11 Jan 1842 in Ohio, United States.[1] His Father was John England.[2]
Orrin entered service at 21 as Private in Company B, 72nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry on 9 Oct 1861 for 3 years. Promoted to Sergeant Major 2 Dec 1861. Transfered from Company B to Company C and promoted to 1st Lieutenant 4 Feb 1862, and to Captain 16 Nov 1864. Transferred to Company B 31 Aug 1865. Mustered out with company 11 Sep 1865 in Vicksburg, Mississippi. [3][4] During his service, the regiment was engaged at battles of Shiloh, Corinth, Vicksburg, Jackson, Nashville, and Fort Blakely.[5]
He married Cordelia Letcher Norton (1842-1921)[2] on 21 Nov 1865 in Sandusky, Ohio, United States.[6][7]
Orrin had been in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, United States for only a month and a half when he passed away. He and his wife came from South Dakota, where he as active in public affairs and had been a Civic Commissioner for 5 years. [8] He had a homestead in Harmony where he farmed and raised sheep. Prior to 1901he ran a hardware store in Wessington Springs. [2]
He passed away on 14 Jan 1910 in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California, United States and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Altadena, California. [1][2]
