Biography

Robert was a diesel mechanic for 20 years at Matlack, Inc. and retired in 1981. He was a World War II Navy veteran. At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, Norma and one sister. As I remember he was a very jovial man, and he had taken me with him to were he worked. They had a counter with a nickel welded to the top and induced me to take the nickel, when I couldn't lift it off, I got my pocket Knife out and pried it off the counter. Showing the prize to my Uncle he questioned how I had removed the nickel. I showed him my pocket knife and told him how I had removed the nickel, whereupon he gave the nickel back to the owners. He just chuckled at my ingenuity. I was a little confused at the time as to why I didn't get to keep the nickel. David Hluch
