Biography
Matilda (English) Hawthorn was born about 1822,[1] probably in Drumgurland, Islandmagee, County Antrim, Ireland, daughter of Allan English and Martha (Unknown) English. Matilda's parents are reported as owning a lot of property in Larne.
She married Robert Hawthorn on 5 Nov 1844 in 1st Islandmagee Presbyterian Church, County Antrim. He was living in Ballymuldrogh, Islandmagee and she was living in Drumgurland, Islandmagee. The witnesses were James Hawthorne and James McIlwain.[2]
Matilda died on 9 Sep 1899 in Temple-effin, Islandmagee, County Antrim aged 77 years from heart disease. She was the wife of a labourer and her death was registered by her widower husband Robert Hawthorn.[3]
