Biography

John Esmonde OBE DSC RN was born in Yorkshire, England.

John Witham Esmonde was born on 13 August 1907. He was the son of John Esmonde and Eily O'Sullivan. ^[1]

He married Aileen Mary Harold-Barry, daughter of Harold Philip Harold-Barry and Helen Frances Mary Riddell. ^{[2] [3]}

He attained the rank of Captain (Engineering) in the Royal Navy. He fought in the Second World War. He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1943, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.). ^[2]

He died on 28 March 1983 at age 75. ^[2]
