Biography

Walter Henry Euston was born in 1879 in Claverdon, Warwickshire, England^[1]. His parents were Thomas ENSTON and Mary EDKINS.

1881, 2 years old, Walter was living in Pinley, Warwickshire, England with his parents, Thomas (age 38, Agricultural Labourer) and Mary (33) and siblings, Thomas (14, Agricultural Labourer), George (12, Agricultural Labourer), James (9), Sarah (6) and Emily (4)^[2]

1891, 12 year old, Plough Boy, Walter was living in Hugglescote Lane, Hugglescote and Donington, Leicestershire, England with his mother, Mary (age 50) and siblings, Emily (14, Elastic Web Weaver), Frederick (10) and Bernard (3)^[3]

By 1910. Walter was living in New Zealand.

Mabel Jane LINES and Walter Henry (listed as) EUSTON were married on 24 August 1910 in New Zealand^[4].

They set sail aboard the ship Moana from Wellington, New Zealand and arrived in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 11 October 1910^[5].

They appear to have moved to Victoria shortly after where their sons were born:

Walter was arrested and charged with desertion of his wife in Inglewood, Victoria in January 1913^[6].

By 1914, wife Mabel had returned to New Zealand with their 2 sons

Listed as Walter Henry EUSTON, he married Ruby Easton PRIGG in 1913 in Victoria, Australia^[7]

Their son was Ronald ENSTON 1917 - 1942

However having changed his name to Walton Harry EUSTON, he married Ella Gertrude SMITH in 1917 in Victoria, Australia

In New Zealand, Mabel sued for a divorce in the Whanganui District Court in 1919^[8]

Ruby sued for a divorce on the grounds of desertion and a decree nisi was granted on 20 February 1922 and she retained custody of their son^[9]. It's unknown if Ruby knew about Ella.

He passed away in 1930 in South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia^[10] and was buried at the Springvale Botanical Cemetery^[11] with the name Walton Harry EUSTON.

There is a marriage and a census record for Walter in 1901 in Leicestershire, England which has not been added above as the details seem rather sketchy and no divorce has been located.
