DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with James by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with James:

I found a James Evans, 12 years of age living with Esau Evans and Sarah Evans in Cass Township, Schuylkill County PA - census taken Aug 29, 1850.

There is another James Evans, 12 years old, living with Evan Evans, Sarah Evans, Salina, Mary, Elizabeth in Minersville, Schuylkill County, PA - census taken August 15, 1850. - Cass township surrounds Minersville.

After discussing with some generous wiki-genealogists and my father, it was decided that both of these census are my James and Esau. According to my father, the property spans the line between Minersville and Cass township, making it seem plausible that two census takers recorded the home. (this happens to my home that is on the border of one county, but addressed to the town in the next county).

The question then is, where are the older girls in the Cass township census? One genealogists suggestion that a neighbor may have given the census info and the girls may actually have no longer lived at the home, which also seems plausible.

Finally, the name on the Minersville census record does not look like Evan. I believe it could be written Esau, another genealogist believes it is written Evau. Either makes me believe it is my Esau and James.

One last note. I do have a 1841 census from Crickhowell, Breconshire, Wales with Esau, Sarah, James, Salina, Elizabeth, Mary, and Margaret.
