Catherine was born in 1767. She was the daughter of Thomas Ewing and Mary Reed.
Catherine "Kattie" Ewing was born in August 1767 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania the daughter of Thomas D. Ewing and Mary (? Reed). Catherine was during her childhood captured by Indians in a cornfield on her father's farm near Spruce Creek Huntingdon county Pennsylvania and made to tramp barefooted to Niagara Falls and Montreal living with the savages for two years. From constantly hearing and using their native language she had almost forgotten her native tongue. She was finally exchanged and sent back in safety to her home. She married James Houston on November 20, 1787, in Pennsylvania. They had six children together. She died on December 20, 1848, in her hometown, having lived a long life of 81 years.
She passed away in 1848.
