Thaddeus was born in 1842. He was the son of Josiah Farley and Nancy Mason. He passed away in 1876.
Thaddeus was the oldest son, was a farmer and in Dec 1861, he enlisted in the Missouri State Guard which became part of the regular Confederate Army in Jan 1862.
He served in the Calvary Regiment commanded by Col. Elijah Gates in the First and Second Confederate Brigades and participated in twelve battles. His unit was captured at Vicksburg in 1863., later exchanged and continued to fight until the end of the war, though the 1st and 2nd Brigades suffered extremely high casualties. Two girls, Pearl Harris and Nellie Harris, were lifelong residents of Platte CO. Sometime in the 1870's Thaddeus moved his young family to the Springdale area in Leavenworth County, Kansas.
While returning home from Leavenworth on Dec 15, 1876, he was shot from ambush by an unknown assailant and died 3 days later. Subsequently, his widow and family returned to Platte CO. LOOKING BACK ON LEE TWP. PLATTE CO. MISSOURI by Hazel Dowling
