Biography
John Farmer was born c1610, son of John (alias Johnson, in his will) and Elizabeth (unk) Farmer of Ansley. [1]
He married Isabel Burbage at Arley, Warwickshire on August 13, 1633. Isabel was baptized at Great Packingham, Warwickshire on November 10, 1611, daughter of Thomas and Ann (___ ) Burbage. [1]
John wrote his will on August 18, 1658 and was buried four days later on August 22. The will was not proved at the Prerogative Court at Canterbury until August 20, 1659. [1]
In about 1671, widow Isabel emigrated to Massachusetts in New England with her sons Edward and Thomas and daughter Isabel. She married Elder Thomas Wiswall of Newton, Massachusetts, about 1674, as his second wife. [1]
Following Thomas' death, Isabel contested with Wiswall's children to receive dower from his estate. By the winter of 1684 she had moved to her son Edward Farmer's house in Billerica. On April 7, 1685, Edward was appointed her guardian; after 17 months as an invalid, she died at his house on May 21, 1686, and was buried in Billerica the next day. [2]
Genealogist John Farmer called her "a woman of masculine courage and spirit."

128. Johannes (John) FARMER was born about 1615 in Ansley, Warwickshire, England. He died on 2 May 1663 in Ansley, Warwickshire, England. He was buried on 15 Aug 1664 in Ansley, Warwickshire, England.( He has reference number 236. John Farmer, the early genealogist provides the following: "John Farmer, of Ansley, in the county of Warwickshire, married Isabel Barbage, of Great Parkington, of the same county, had a considerable number of children, of whom, per several manuscript letters and ancient documents, I have collected the following notices. The said John F. died prior to the year 1669. His wife, after his decease, came to New England, where she married Rev. Thomas Wiswall, of Cambridge village, now Newton, and after his death removed to Billerica, where she died Mat 24, 1686." He was married to Isabella BURBAGE on 13 Aug 1633 in Ansley, England.
All of the seven children above named, except Richard and Sarah, are included in a listing of the children of John farmer of Ansley by Drake. Sarah, however, may well be the unnamed daughter who married John Hall of Warwick. Drake also lists a son John Jr. of Ansley and a daughter Ann, who were perhaps baptized before the perior covered.
