Samuel Farrar was born about 25 Sep 1733 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Samuel Farrar appears to have been named John at birth by his parents John Farrar and his wife Mary. However, John's cousin Samuel Merriam died 10 March 1735/6. So it is believed that Samuel was renamed in his honor. Facts that support this: (1) John Farrar and his wife Mary had another son named John in 1741, but there is no death record for the first John Farrar and (2) this same couple appears to have renamed their second child from Mary to Mercy, although the namesake of Mercy is unclear. However the children of John Farrar as appeared in Deacon Samuel Merriam's will are Samuel, John, Mercy Burrows, Mary Stearns, and Joseph.

There is no evidence for a Samuel son of John and Mary b. 25 Feb 1733 nor any other date in the 1733-1750 timeframe. The Concord Records show a son John born that date. There is a Samuel, son of Samuel and Lydia b. 14 Feb 1736/7 Concord but he did not marry Sarah Brown
Update: the 15 Nov 1764 marriage in Acton was to Hannah Brown.
