A Revolutionary Soldier Aged 86y 6m
March served in the Revolutionary War and also in the War of 1812. He first entered the army at the age of 13, serving as an aide to his father, Col. Thomas Farrington. Later, he was a drummer and was near to the Battle of Bunker Hill where his father was leading his regiment into action. At a later time, he was with some men who observed Benedict Arnold escaping in a boat which would be the start of his journey to England and life in exile.
He took part in the Battle of Chippawa, in what is now Ontario, Canada in the War of 1812. This took place on July 5, 1814. During this battle his clothes were pierced with bullets but he appears to have been unharmed.
March and Betsy were married January 10, 1788 in Delhi, NY.
