Biography

OBITUARY: Glenn Allen Faust, 90, of Caldwell, Texas passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. A public visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, March 17, 2023 in the chapel at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 18th at New Tabor Brethren Church followed by interment at New Tabor Brethren Church Cemetery.

Glenn grew up in the New Tabor Community, the only boy, with four sisters. He attended New Tabor Brethren Church his entire life and was baptized on October 9, 1932 in this very church with Frank V. Dusek as his sponsor. Glenn later confirmed his parents decision to raise him in the Christian faith on July 27, 1947 after which he served God faithfully all his days. Glenn was happy to call Jesus his Lord and Savior.

After his high school graduation, Glenn joined the United States Army and was assigned to artillery. Shortly after, his father had a stroke and he was discharged from active duty to take care of the farm and family. He remained an Army Reservist until his discharge on December 31, 1961. On June 29, 1963, he married the love of his life, Birdice Faye Fletcher and to this union were born three children; Lori Lynn, Glenda Denise and Mark Allen. Glenn also served as a surrogate father to his nieces, Mandy and Sandy, sometimes having all five of the children in bunk beds lining one bedroom. He never complained about the extra expense and never begrudged one minute of the time he spent with any of his children, nieces or nephews. He did his best to install good values and love of hard work in each one of them. Before Glenn’s children were born, his nephew Leroy (Sonny) was his constant partner. Sonny was always ready to go and shared many adventures with him.

Although his trade was a lineman, he was not afraid to try his hand at any type of work, but farming was his passion. He loved nothing more than to be on a tractor, working the land. He was proud of the product he produced during his years of custom baling and even at ninety years old he was baling hay and making sure the equipment was well kept while helping his neighbors with shredding, gopher poisoning and whatever else they needed. Glenn thoroughly enjoyed passing along whatever knowledge he had to make life a bit easier for others, especially his grandchildren. He always loved to dance and listen to good music. Thankfully later in life he was afforded the time to enjoy these activities. Polka was his favorite and he spent many enjoyable hours with friends, old and new, dancing and visiting. He never met a stranger and made many new friends during these years.

Glenn is preceded in death by his wife, Faye, who passed away on December 18, 1993. Several years after Faye’s death he met Helen Mickie and was her constant companion for more than twenty years. Helen passed away on April 13, 2020. Glenn served both of these ladies in a loving manner and did all that he could do to make their lives as enjoyable as possible. Also, preceding him death were his parents Emil C. and Milady Faust, his sisters and brothers in law, Gladys and Franklin Zavodny, Helen and Wilfred Hildebrand, Frances Urbanovsky and Leroy B. Zavodny Sr., as well as nieces, Susan Mines and Amanda Martin.

He is survived by his daughters, Lori Suehs and her husband Terry, Glenda Smith and husband Bubba, Mark Faust and his wife Jackie as well as his grandchildren, Brandon Suehs and his wife Amanda, Travis Suehs, Morgan Smith, Miranda Smith-Owen and husband Aaron Owen great grandchildren Cara Gold and Barrett Suehs; his sister Ethel Zavodny and brother in law Alton Urbanovsky, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to New Tabor Brethren Church – Cemetery Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley – 502 W 26th Bryan, Texas 77803.
