Research Notes
- Many of the Faust/Foust family members in America today come from Johann Faust, born about 1585 in Wolferborn, Hessen, Germany. Early records show other Faust families, and of course immigrants came from many different parts of Germany. But, a large number trace their roots back to Johann Faust. Johann moved from Wolferborn to Bindsachsen, and he later moved to Langenselbold where his son Hans Faust lived.
- There is a Faust castle in upper Austria. Its a 15th century castle on the Danube which, legend says, was built in a single nite for Dr Faust by the devil. It has been owned by several noble families and has been a hotel since 1966. It has 70 beds with a bath in each room. It is reached by Danube Steamer direct to Aschach; bus, train, airport; Linz-Horsching, 40 km west of Linz.
