Johann Heinrich Faust was born in the Province of Hesse-Nassau, Prussia

Early Life

Johann was born on April 8th 1903 in Willingshausen, Germany to Ludwig Faust, a Schreinermeister (master joiner/carpenter), and his wife Catharina Elisabeth Korell, a Dienstmagd (maid).

Family

He married Anna Katharina Metz on June 18th 1939 in Willingshausen, Germany. They had three children together:

  • Katharina born December 27th 1939
  • Helga born July 25th 1943
  • Kurt born January 9th 1947

Military

He was drafted into the German army during WWII. When it ended he was in Oslo, Norway. He broke out of the prison camp the British were holding him in and walked home to Willingshausen, Germany. It took him six months.[1]
