Rebecca Ann Ferguson[1]
Born about 1829 to William Ferguson and Harriet Felstead and baptized on 27 February 1831 at St Dunstan and All Saints church, Stepney, London, England[2] The baptism information listed the family's place of abode as Poplar (an area that was part of the parish of Stepney) and William Ferguson's employment as a carpenter. Rebecca's death certificate lists her mother's second husband as her father. This is incorrect. She may have used her step-father's name prior her marriage.
At some point Rebecca's family emigrated to Sydney, Australia as her sister Mary Anne was born there in June 1837. They then moved onto New Zealand. Rebecca's death certificate noted that she had been in New Zealand for 68 years. This indicates she arrived in New Zealand around 1838 aged 9. Her mother left her father William or William died and her mother remarried Christian Christmas Berry sometime between 1839 / 1840.[3]
Marriage Rebecca married John Lander in Auckland when she was aged 15.[4]
Died Rebecca died at Devonport, Auckland, New Zealand on 11 December 1906 from cardiac disease.[5] Her death certificate listed her living children as three males aged 56, 46, and 41 and one female aged 57.
Buried Rebecca was buried on 13 December 1906 at O'Neill's Point Cemetery, 122 Bayswater Avenue, Bayswater, Auckland, Row C Plot 122. [6]
