Henry Field is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A039039.
The Birth Date is a rough estimate. See the text for details.

Henry was born in 1718 [Likely not older than his father-in-law and this would be quite old for service]. He was deeded a tract of land by his father Abraham and wife Elianah Field in 1768, which is the best indicator of his age. He was thereafter married to Anne Lightfoot, a daughter of William Lightfoot, evidenced by the mention of monies which he might receive from Lightfoot, when making his will.

Henry's will was dated 19 Nov 1777 and proved 16 March 1778 in Culpeper County. He named no wife and only two minor daughters, Elizabeth and Judith Field, making the children of his sister "Greenwood" contingent beneficiaries if these daughters died without issue. He bequeathed 100 pounds to a likely care-giver, Sarah Reynolds, and named Robert Coleman, Jr. as his executor. Robert Coleman was the second spouse of Anne Lightfoot's sister Elizabeth (Lightfoot) Houison.

The young daughters of Henry and Anne Lightfoot were noted as taken to Kentucky by Coleman. This occurred sometime after 1780 when Coleman was recorded selling Henry's land. Judith Field married in Jefferson County, Kentucky in 1795 to Francis Taylor, with her maternal uncle Edward Lightfoot signing the bond for the marriage.

A 1797 Revolutionary War Bounty Land Application made by Francis Taylor and wife Judith was accompanied by an affidavit from Robert Coleman which stated she was Henry's only and sole heir, his daughter Elizabeth having died unmarried and without issue in 1796.

Spouse:

  • Anne Lightfoot, dau. of Wm. Lightfoot

Daughters:

  • Elizabeth Field, died without issue.
  • Judith Field, m. Francis Taylor in 1795
