At the time of the 1891 Scotland Census, Mary was living at Logie Cottage in Flisk. She was a 53 year old out worker born in Ceres, Fife. Her husband William Penny was a 55 year old ploughman born in Newburgh. Their children were: Margaret 23, James 18, and Mary 11. They had a grandson Robert Stark, age 1 year staying with them. [3]
She passed away in 1916 in Markinch, Fife. Mother's name Mentoplay.[4]
Research Notes
The confusion over Mary's place of birth can be put down to being agricultural workers. They very often didn't know where they were born due to the fact they moved around a lot. The name Mentiply seems to be associated with Pittenweem.
