Sir Campbell Kirkman Finlay was born about 1876.

In the late 1890s, the Burmah Oil Company Ltd (founded in 1886 as the Rangoon Oil Company by David Sime Cargill to develop oil fields in the Indian subcontinent) passed into the ownership of Sir Campbell Kirkman Finlay, whose family already possessed vast colonial interests through their trading vehicle, James Finlay and Co.[1] In the first decade of the 20th century, Burmah Oil became an early and major shareholder in Anglo-Persian Oil Company (APOC) – later Anglo-Iranian Oil Company, then British Petroleum and eventually BP.

He married Alice Norton in 1901.[2]
They had two children:

Finlay received a knighthood in recognition of his immense contribution to industry.

He passed away, aged 61 years, in 1937, at Windsor, Berkshire, England.[3] [4]
