Andrew Finley was a North Carolina colonist.
  • Parents: Michael Finley (1683-1750) and Ann (O'Neill) Finley (1685-1760), who married 12 Jul 1712 in Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland.[1]
  • Andrew immigrated to America 23 Sep 1734 with his parents and siblings, where they arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the brig Eagle Wing. Initially settling in Bucks County, Pennsylvania then Salisbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Andrew was a twin to his brother, William and an Uncle by his brother John of another Andrew Finley (1750-1829) who was born in Cumberland, Pennsylvania.[1]
  • Spouse: Katherine (Paull) Finley 1717 - 1800. They were married about 1754 in Guilford, North Carolina.
  • Children:

  • Married Elizabeth Paisley (1758-1846)

  • Andrew received his Granville Grant on 10 Mar 1763 on Little Alimans (Alamance) of Haw River... containing the whoe, 602 acres of land... in Orange County, North Carolina.
  • Approximately in 1756, the first Presbyterian Church was begun in Rowan County, known as the Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Andrew is listed as the first Elder of Alamance Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. About 1762 - 1780. He was ordained by Reverend Patillo. Per the Register of Elders.
  • On 5/263/1778, the follwing survey was made for Andrew Finley: ... a tract or parcel of land, containing 640 acres, lying in the county aforesaid,....
  • On 8/1/1793, Samuel & Katherine Finley sold 100 acres of land.
  • Andrew was involved with John Blair in support of the Regulators.

    • His Grandparents were Michael and Ann (O'Neill) Finley, came with their family from County Armagh, Ireland.
    • Landed at Philadelphia 28 Sep 1734.
    • They brought their children: John [the father of Andrew Finley (1750-1829)], Samuel, William, Andrew, (1717-1780), Michael, Martha, George, James and Susannah.
    • In the same ship were Archibald and Margaret (Kelso) Finley, brother and sister-in-law of Michael. They brought their sons: John, Henry, Alexander, Agnes, Archibald Jr.
    • Michael's brother and sister in law Robert and Sarah (Patterson) Finley with children: Mary & Robert, along with brother and sister in law, John & Mary Ann (Barclay) Finley with children: Mary, Andrew, James, Elizabeth, John, Margaret, Robert and Jane arrived earlier in 1732 on the Brig, "Eagle Wing" at Newcastle. Both of these earlier Finley families settled in Nottingham Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania."

He died in Guilford County, North Carolina and was buried there in Alamance Church Yard in 1800. He accompanied his brother George Finley when he moved to Guilford County and settled near Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1755, he married Katherine Paull, a daughter of Hugh Paull, the pioneer Paull to America, aq native of Arbigland, Scotland. Katherine Paull's brother, Captain George Paull, was the Father of Mary Paull, who married Lieutenant Joseph Torrence. Lieutenant Joseph Torrence was a son of Susannah Finley, sister of the above Andrew Finley. Children of Andrew and Katherine (Paull) Finley were seven":
