Biography

Carl Wilhelm Fischer was born on 31 Mar 1850 in the small village of Trockenborn in the Dutchy of Saxe-Altenburg (now in Thuringia, Germany) and christened there on 09 Apr 1850. His parents were Caroline Wilhelmine Elizabeth (Dietrich) and Heinrich Ludwig Fischer. [1]

He was a cabinetmaker and was said to be very skilled at his craft. His first year in the USA was spent in the employ of H. Rechkes & Company; thereafter, he was self-employed.
(Carl) Wilhelm "William" Fischer married on 10 Jan 1873 to Marie Frances Gerlach, who had arrived from Germany, the previous year. They made their home on Bauwans Street in downtown Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.

In 1908 they moved to N. Sawyer Street in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, USA.

He died of stomach cancer on 19 May 1926 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, and was buried on 21 May 1926 at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in River Grove, Cook County, Illinois, USA.
