Jacopo Francisco Eduardo FitzJames-Stuart y Colón de Portugal (3rd Duque de Liria y Xerica) was born on 28 December 1718 at Madrid, Spain. He was the son of James Francis Fitzjames-Stuart (2nd Duque de Liria y Xerica) and his wife Catalina Ventura de Portugal-Columbus, 9th Duquesa de Veragua y de La Vega.. [1]
He succeeded to the title of 3rd Duque de Liria y Xerica [Spain, 1707] on 2 June 1738. He held the office of Grandee of the First Class [Spain]. He held the office of Admiral of the Indies. He succeeded to the title of 11th Conde de Monterrey on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 12th Vizconde de Monterrey on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 13th Senor de Monterrey on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 7th Conde de Ayala on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 10th Marqués de Jamaica on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 10th Duque de La Vega on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 10th Duque de Veragua on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 5th Marqués de Tarazona on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 12th Conde de Gelves on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 4th Marqués de La Mota on 3 October 1739.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Marqués de San Leonardo on 3 October 1739. He succeeded to the title of 20th Senor de Lemos. He succeeded to the title of 20th Senor de Sarria. He succeeded to the title of 14th Conde de Lemos [Spain, 1457]. He succeeded to the title of 11th Marqués de Sarria [Spain, 1541]. He succeeded to the title of 6th Duque de Tauresano [Spain, c. 1616]. He succeeded to the title of 12th Conde de Villalba [Spain, 1486]. He succeeded to the title of 12th Conde de Andrade [Spain, 1543].1 He was Colonel of the Regiment of the Asturias in 1741. He was invested as a Knight, Order of Janarius of Naples. He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in 1743 in the service of the Spanish Army. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1747.
He died on 30 September 1785 at age 66 at Valencia, Spain.
Jacopo Fitzjames-Stuart was married to Maria Teresa de Silva y Alvarez de Toledo, daughter of Manuel Maria de Silva, (9th Conde de Galve and Maria Teresa Alvarez de Toledo), (11th Duquesa de Alba), on 26 July 1738 at Alba de Tormes, Spain.
