Biography

Hanged, Drawn and Quartered.

Walter Fitzgerald was one of 5 brothers executed along with their nephew "Silken Thomas" (Earl of Kildare) in 1537. Walter married Elizabeth Plunkett, daughter of Robert Plunkett, 5th Lord Dunsany.^[1].

Before Walter's death, they had at least one son Maurice (born ca.1530) who in turn had 8 sons, and the line continued for many generations.

The Funeral Entry for Walter's great-grandson in 1637 records: "Garrett FitzGerald of Glassealy in the County of Kildare Esqr, sometime Sheriff of the County of Wicklow, 8th sonne of Maurice Fitzgerald, which Maurice was the eldest sonne of Walter Fitzgerald 2nd sonne of Garrett Fitz Gerald, [8th] Earl of Kildare..."^[2]
