John L. Fitzpatrick, 63, of Rockford died Dec. 9, 2006, at his residence. Born Aug. 20, 1943, in Rockford, the son of Leo and Edith (Colville) Fitzpatrick.

John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include wife, Paula; stepsons, Mark (Stacey) Powell and Jeff (Shelley Cox) Powell; stepdaughters, Laura Linley and Melinda (Greg) Brazier; nine stepgrandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; a brother, Michael (Lottie) Fitzpatrick; sisters, Patricia (DeWolfe) Edwards, Kay Fitzpatrick and Virginia Conley; and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by parents; sister, Shirley; and brother, Donald.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at PA Peterson Chapel, pastor Chuck Olson officiating.

Private family burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
