Patrick was the son of Richard Fitzsimons and his wife Bridget.[1]

He studied at the English College at Seville, where he was ordained (c.1718). His first position in Ireland was as parish priest of St Paul's on Arran Quay from 1729 to 1744. He was vicar general under successive Archbishops of Dublin from 1734 to 1763. In 1763 he was appointed Archbishop of Dublin.[2]

Patrick died at Francis Street in Dublin,[2] and was buried at Clonsilla in 1769.[3]

Will

... my body to the earth to be buried in the Church of Clonsillaugh, at the feet of my dear parents, in as frugal a manner as decency will permit...[4]

to my sister Catherine Flannagan, for her sole & separate use, one hundred pounds sterling
to my nieces Honora Kavenough & Bridget Shannon, five pounds each ... daughters of Patrick Daly
to Henery Byrne, the only child of my niece Dorothy Byrne, alias Daly, five pounds
to my nephews Patrick and Valentine Strong, one pound two shillings & nine pence each
to my niece Frances Tisdal, otherwise Sweetman five pounds
to my grandniece Rose Moor otherwise Walsh five pounds
to my nephew Richard Fitzsimons, such sum as is due to me by his brother Thomas Fitzsimons, my nephey, excepting one pound two shillings and nine pence thereof, which I bequeath to sd. Thomas Fitzsimons, my said nephew.
to my cousin Elinor Ball, one pound ten shillings
to my grandnephews Dennis & John Kelly, five pounds apiece
to my nephew Christopher Fitzsimons and to my niece Bridgt., his wife ... all my plate, with an obligation of engraving my coat of arms on them ...
