Military

Vietnam War US Marines PFC, G CO, 2ND BN, 7TH MARINES, 1ST MARDIV, III MAF He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on June 6, 1967 in Atlanta GA. He arrived in Vietnam on November 16, 1967 and was assigned to Company G, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, (Rein) FMF.

While on patrol, on February 26 while under OPCON (Operational Control) of the 1st Battalion, the fifth man in the squad column tripped and detonated an AP (Anti-Personnel) mine in the vicinity of Dong Bich hamlet in Hieu Duc District. Evacuated to the Station Hospital NSA in Da Nang, PFC Floyd died as a result of the multi fragmentation wounds from the hostile explosive device.
