Biography

John Follett (aka John IV) was born in 1752 in Attleborough, Massachusetts, the son of John Follett (aka John III) and Rachel Stevens. He was a farmer.

John married three times:
First to Christian Belding (1756-1778) m. 7 Dec 1770 at Swanzey, New Hampshire [1],

Second, to Sybil (Sibel) Willard (abt 1750-1782) m. 9 Feb 1779 at Swanzey, New Hampshire [2], and

Third, to Hannah Oak/Oakes (1749-1838) m. 18 Nov 1783 at Winchester, New Hampshire.[3] Hannah was the widow of Seth Alexander.

Between the three wives, he had a dozen children.

John Follett served in the Revolutionary War as a Private in the Continental Line, New Hampshire, under Col. Isaac Wyman, and in Capt. Samuel Ashley's regiment from Winchester and served at Ticonderoga. He also served in the militia where he earned the title of Captain. (The Oak-Oaks-Oakes source states about John: "A Revolutionary soldier and later Captain of the militia.") Military records found are listed under the Sources below.
