Joseph Winfred Foltz was born 15 May 1926 in Stanley, Page county, Virginia, USA. He was the son of George Clyde Foltz and Julia Arthelia Cubbage. He had two older siblings from his father's previous marriage:

Ethel Cubbage was widowed and first marriage at age 28. Lydia and Clyde were married, she was 19 and he was 32 at first marriage. Ethel was a general farm owner, Edna did housework at home, Owen and Clyde were farm laborers on a general farm, Julia was a housekeeper at home. [1] His half-siblings Virginia Foltz (15) and George A Foltz (13) lived in Marksville with their late mother's parents Martin D Aleshire (55) and Ida B Aleshire (55). [2]
On 13 Oct 1930, his sister Virginia Bell Foltz (16) married James Knight (22). James was white, single, born in Page County, and the son of John W and Lucy Blosser Knight. Virginia was white, single, born in Page County, and the daughter of Clyde and Dessie Aleshire Foltz. [3]
On 27 Oct 1934, his brother George Auburn Foltz (18) married Reda Mae Knight (19) in Luray. [4]

On 5 Jul 1950, Joseph W Foltz married Doris M Bolen. Doris was born 31 May 1931. [6]

On 25 Apr 1961, his grandmother Ethel Cubbage died in Stanley.
On 21 Dec 1970, his father George Clyde Foltz (77) died in Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia from acute bronchopneumonia due to chronic brain syndrome and several generalized arteriosclerosis of the past 2 years. Other significant conditions contributing to his death were benign prostatic hypertrophy with obstructive uropathy. His usual residence had been RFD 2 in Stanley. He was a retired farmer. The informant of his death was his wife Julia C Foltz. [10] [11] He was buried at Leakes Chapel Cemetery in Stanley. [12]

In the mid 1970s, his son D W Foltz (20s) married P S Louderback (<21) in Page County. Mr Foltz was born in Virginia, white, single, finished two years of college, lived at 425 E Main St in Luray, and the son of Joseph W and Doris Bolen Foltz. Ms Louderback was born in Virginia, white, divorced from her first marriage, finished 10th grade, lived with Dale in Luray, and the daughter of James E and Rachael Alger Louderback. They were married by O L Martin, ordained minister of the Christian Disciples of Christ church. [7]
On 24 Oct 1980, his sister Virginia Belle Knight (65) died in Luray. [14]

In the early 1980s, his son J W Foltz (20s) married G D Fulk (<21) in Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Virginia. Mr Foltz was born in Virginia, white, single, finished two years of college, lived at 605 Hawkins Street Apt E in Harrisonburg, and the son of Joseph W and Doris Bolen Foltz. Ms Fulk was born in Virginia, white, single, high school graduate, lived with Joey in Harrisonburg, and the daughter of Wayne A and Yvonne Shull Fulk. They were married by Donald H Tiogelsanger, pastor of the First Church of the Brethren. [9]
On 25 Jun 1982, his brother Jasper Clyde Foltz (53) married Jo Ann Hensley (40) in Elkton, Page County. Jasper was white, widowed from his first marriage on 4 Aug 1980, had a 7th grade education, lived at Route #2 Box 226 in Stanley, born in Virginia on 20 Feb 1929, and the son of George C and Julia A Cubbage Foltz. Jo Ann was white, divorced from her first marriage in Sep 1972, a high school graduate, lived at Route #1 box 127 in Elkton, born 11 May 1942 in Virginia, and the daughter of Paul A and Zethel M Weaver May. They were married by pastor Rev James L King. [15]
In the mid 1980s, his daughter L F Crist (20s) married W P Mathews (40s) in Luray. Mr Mathews was born in Washington, District of Columbia, white, divorced from his first marriage, high school graduate, lived at route 4 Box 86 in Front Royal, Warren County, Virginia, and the son of Israel W and Bertha Robinson Mathews. Ms Crist was born in Virginia, white, divorced from her first marriage, high school graduate, lived at Route 1 Box 230B in Luray, and the daughter of Joseph W and Doris Bolen Foltz. They were married by pastor Harley Patterson of the Christian church. [8]
On 24 Feb 2003, his brother Jasper "Jack" Foltz died in Stanley.
2005, his mother Julia A Foltz died.
On 20 May 2010, Joseph Winfred Foltz (84) died at Page Memorial Hospital in Page County. He had lived in Luray, Page County. His obituary was published in the Daily News Record of Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Virginia on May 22nd. He was buried at Beahms Chapel Cemetery in Luray. [6] [16] [17] [18] [19]

Joseph Winfred Foltz, 84, of Luray, died on Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Page Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 15, 1926, in Stanley and was a son of the late George Clyde and Julia Arthelia Cubbage Foltz. Mr. Foltz had worked as a welder for Shenandoah National Park. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
On July 5, 1950, he married the former Doris M. Bolen, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Dale Winfred Foltz of Luray, and Joey Wayne Foltz of Harrisonburg; a daughter, LuAnn Mathews of Luray; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper C. "Jack" Foltz; a half brother, George Auburn Foltz; and a half sister, Virginia Belle Knight.
A graveside service was conducted on Sunday, May 23, at the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery by the Rev. Chester Knighting.
