Biography
Hosea was born in 1729 in Colchester, Connecticut Colony. He was the son of Joseph Foot and Ann Clothier. His grandfather was active in planning the settlement of the town in 1703 before he died, but his grandmother and her four youngest children (including Joseph) moved to Colchester a few years later.
On April 8, 1756, when he was 26 or 27, Hosea married Eunice Chamberlain, the daughter of another early Colchester family. Together they had nine known children between 1755 and 1781, of whom four died young.[1]
Hosea passed away in Colchester on September 23, 1808. [2]
