Biography

TUSCALOOSA James David Forister, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, formerly of Daleville, passed away Monday, June 11, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel with Rev. Clay Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow in Daleville Memorial Gardens with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. Mr. Forister was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hollis Forister; his parents, Robert and Ruby Forister; a brother, Glenn Forister; son-in-law, Jimmy Pirkle; and a sister-in-law, D.D. O'Rear. Survivors include three daughters, Debra Pirkle of New Brockton, Ala., Terri Ogletree (Jim) of Marietta, Ga., and Sharon Poole (Jim) of Columbus, Ga.; son, David Forister (Phoebe) of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Wilma Lee Brackner (Charles) of Brookwood, Ala. and Addine Ramsey (Gerald) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother-in-law, Bert Smith of Leeds, Ala.; six grandchildren, Taylor Pirkle (Sarah) of Enterprise, Ala., Rebecca Pirkle of Atlanta, Ga., Aaron Poole of Columbus, Ga., Mallory Estes (Addison) of Phenix City, Ala., David Wren Forister of Jacksonville, Fla., and Holli Grace Forister of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Caden Pirkle, Blake Pirkle, Alyssa Pirkle, and Kati Rodgers, all of Enterprise, Ala., and Alli Rae Estes of Phenix City, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Dirk Berry and his office staff, Dr. George P. Miller and his office staff, Dr. Sarah E. Carrell, Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, Davita Tuscaloosa University Dialysis Center, Davita Northport Dialysis Center, and the family and friends of Little Hurricane Baptist Church.
