Biography
Sarah S. Fortney was born in 1820, daughter of Jonas Fortney and Maria "Polly" Redick/Reddick/Rettig. She married 1) Henry W. Waughtel/Wachte. in 1839. They had 2 children 1) Emily Louise Waughtel, born 1837 and 2) Henry Harrison Waughtel, born 1840. Henry W. Waughtel died in 1839.
Sarah then married 2) Isaac R. Smith in 1842; they had 6 children. The 1850 Ohio Census shows Henry Harrison Waughtel as Henry H. Smith...this is incorrect; he was Isaac Smith's stepson.
