Obiturary, Waterloo Dailey Courier, December 24, 1952 Harley Chester Fortune
Harley Fortune age 69 of 827 West Third St. died at 5 A.M. Monday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital from complications incident to an intestinal disorder. He had been ill for several days and had been in the hospital since Sunday afternoon.
He was born March 5, 1883 at Coshocton Ohio.
He came to Waterloo 1929 and made his home here where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement three years ago.
In 1930 he married Irene Bailey at Coshocton OH. She survives him.
Other survivors include five sons. C. Edgar of Morning Sun, IA; Clarence of Muscatine, James of Moline, Jack of Cedar Falls, John Shryock, Evansdale. Five daughters; Mrs. Glen Smith and Mrs. Raymond McDaniel of Santa Rosa, CA, Mrs. Robert Kinser of Maywood Addition, Mrs. Clarence Haller of Muscatine, Judy at home, 25 grandchildren, and seven great grand-children.
The body is at Kearns Garden Chapel where funeral services will be announced later. Burial will be in the Midwest Garden of Memories.
