Della was born in 1877, the daughter of John J. Foster and Martha Lou Gooch. She passed away in 1961 and is buried in Calvary United Church Of Christ Cemetery, Thomasville, North Carolina.^{[1] [2][3][4][5]}

The 1940 Census shows her living with her husband in their house at 503 High Street in Thomasville, North Carolina, within walking distance of her daughter Alvie and grand-children.^[14] Della and William Calvin moved from Georgia to Thomasville, North Carolina in 1924, where William took a job as a furniture worker. Several of her children also settled in the Thomasville/Lexington, North Carolina area.

MRS. DELLA STINCHCOMB

THOMASVILLE - Funderal for Mrs. Della Martha Foster Stinchcomb was conducted yesterday from Siler Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Donald Moore, pastor of Park Place Baptist Church and Rev. Paul Berrier, paster of West End Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Grant Harris, Jr., Jim Kinney, Tom and John Sink, Charles Wood and Billy Joe Tysinger.

Burial was in the family plot in Calvary United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Stinchcomb died in Lexington Memorial Hospital Tuesday afternoon after a critical illness.

Family members remember her as being very short, but with a feisty personality. She had hair down to her waist, which she normally kept tied up in a bun.
