Biography

Elizabeth Foster, daughter of Edward Foster and Lettice (Hanford) Foster, was born in Scituate, Plymouth Colony about 1644.^[1][2]

Elizabeth married, first, Ephraim Huet in Scituate on November 7, 1665^[3] or November 9, 1665.^[1][4] Elizabeth and Ephraim had the following children, all born in Hingham:

1. Thomas, b. June 23, 1667.^[5][1][6] He is described as "an unfortunate insane young man."^[1][6]
2. Ruth, b. October 5, 1669^[7][1][6]
3. Susanna, b. March 31, 1672,^[8][1][6] m. February 29, 1700/1 Ephraim Lane of Hingham^[9][1]
4. Jael, b. March 15, 1673/4, m. December 3, 1697 Samuel Rogers of Marshfield, d. before 1747
5. Ephraim, b. September 17, 1676,^[10][1][6] removed to Easton, Massachusetts^[1]

Elizabeth's first husband, Ephraim Huet, died on May 6, 1678, at the age of 39.^[11][1]

Elizabeth married, second, James Ray of Hingham on January 17, 1681/2.^[1][2] Elizabeth and James had the following child:

1. Margaret, b. February 6, 1682/3 in Hingham,^[2] m. May 26, 1709 Nathaniel Sutton of Scituate^[2]

Elizabeth died in Hingham on February 15, 1682/3.^[2]
