George is the son of James Fowler (?-?) and Mary Ann (Fipps/Phips) Fowler (?-?). George was born about 1820 in either North or South Carolina. He died in Bradford County, Florida on September 6, 1883.
Mary was born in South Carolina in 1824. She married George in 1852 in South Carolina and they moved to Florida in 1853.
George's dad, James Fowler (?-?) had served In the 7th Florida Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War from 1862 to 1863. enlisting at Lake City and being discharged due to disability at Knoxville, Tennessee. Mary Ann (Fipps/Phips) Fowler (?-?) applied for a Florida Confederate widows pension in 1908 -1909. She may have died shortly thereafter.
Citizen Dies
Walch Fowler died at his home Thursday, November 19, and funeral services were held at the graveside in Dedan Cemetery. He is survived by several children.
