He first married Mary W. Wright on 16 Dec 1851 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama[9][1][10][11] and they had the following known children:
Owen William Franklin was born Nov 1852 in Alabama.[12][5]
Mary apparently died young and Alex then married Lavina "Viney"[6][3] Narramore[13] Franklin on 06 Jun 1860 in Jefferson County, Alabama[14][6][2][15][16] and the couple had the following known children:
Darcus A. Franklin was born 10 Jun 1862 in Alabama and died 27 Mar 1939 in Adger, Jefferson County, Alabama.[3][6][17][2]
Catherine Franklin was born about 1864 in Alabama.[6][2]
Dora Franklin was born about 1866 in Alabama.[6][2] She died 03 Jul 1942 in Sumiton, Walker County, Alabama and was buried in Bethlehem Cemetery in Jefferson County, Alabama.[13]
James[2] Curtis Franklin was born about 1868 in Alabama.[6]
Clarisa Franklin was born in Alabama about 1870.[2]
Franzina Franklin was born in Alabama about 1873.[2]
Parlea Franklin was born in Alabama about 1876.[2]
Aleck died sometime after 1880, possibly in Jefferson County, Alabama where he was living at that time.[2]

I Owen Franklin Sr of the County of Jefferson and State of Alabama being of sound and disposing mind and memory and knowing the great uncertainty of life, do make, ordain, publish t his to be my last will and testament, as for this body I make no preamble, but my soul I commit unto God who gave it.
1st. I wish all my just debts paid (if any).
2nd. I give, bequeath and devise unto my son G. A. Franklin all my real estate except what is hereinafter excepted (viz) The E1/2 of the SW 1/4 of Section 29 in Township 18 Range 6 W. Also the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 29 in Township 18 Range 6W. Also I give my son G. A. Franklin all my beds, bedsteads, chests or other furniture that I may die seized and possessed. I hereby give my son G. A. Franklin for his sole benefit and behoof.
3rd. I give unto my grandson O. W. Franklin for his kindness to me in my old age and sore affliction and for no other reason the tract of parcel of land (viz) NW1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 29 in Township 18 Range 6W to have and to hold the same to his only benefit and behoof.
4th. The property bequeathed to my son G. A. Franklin is given soley for his kind attention to me in old age and affliction and for no other cause, feeling duty bound to renumerate him for such services.
5th. I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint G. A. Franklin, Executor of this my last will and testament and do herby waive his giving bond as such Executor. This 15th day of June 1871.
