Uncle Horace never married or had children. He was the caretaker for his father, Ira Leonard Franklin, until his fathers death. He loved to garden and his speciality was daylilies. He once patented a yellow daylily with a yellow throat, the "Cleta Aster". It was named after his mother, Cleta Aster Hutcheson Franklin. Horaces health was not good when he was young so he helped his mother in the house. He told me once that she was his best friend. Her favorite flower color was yellow, hence the solid yellow daylily.
