Obituary

Thomas A.”Tuck” Frazier, 88, died on June 21, 2016 surrounded by his family at The Gatehouse. Tuck was born in Wehrum, Indiana County, Pennsylvania on Sept. 14, 1927. He was the son of Christopher Hamilton and Ysabell Bostic Frazier. At a young age his family moved to Williamsport, where he would live for most of his life. At the age of 11 he played shortstop for Lycoming Dairy under manager Carl Stotz, the first year of Little League Baseball. He was proud to be a lifelong ambassador for Little League Baseball. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. He met Marilyn Harer at Stevens Junior High School in Williamsport and the two were married in 1954. They were married for 61 years and the parents of three children. He proudly served in both the United States Army during the Korea Conflict and the United States Navy in World War II. Professionally he was an engineer, entrepreneur, inventor and businessman. He was a co-founder of PlastiVac Corporation in Montgomery, PA, which later became part of The West Company. He has numerous patents in pharmaceutical and consumer plastics co-listed with The West Company, including one that is on display in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. He was a distinguished plastics engineer and businessman for over 40 years. He was a volunteer member of the Williamsport Water and Sanitary Authority for over 40 years, where he served as chairman of The Williamsport Sanitary Authority until March 2016. Tuck was blessed with many lifelong friends from his days in Williamsport, Little League Baseball, The Williamsport Country Club, and The West Company. Tuck had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed golfing, picnics and card games with family and friends, watching Penn State Football, family trips to the beach, and participating in any activity that involved his kids or grandkids. He also enjoyed the company of many feline companions over the years. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; two sons; Thomas Marc (Laurie) of Williamsport, Charles H. ‘Chip’(Brenda) of Clinton Township; and daughter B. Kathryn of Macungie; two grandchildren; Rebecca L. Frazier and Duncan A. Frazier, three step-grandchildren, and six step- great grandchildren. The family thanks Dr. Russell Gombosi, the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit and The Gatehouse for their professional care. A private burial was held by the family in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be a memorial service in Tuck’s memory at Messiah Lutheran Church in South Williamsport on July 9, 2016 at 10:00AM with Pastor Joshua L. Reinsburrow officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carl E. Stotz Little League Baseball Scholarship Fund or the Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS). [1]
