On September 12, 1911, Adolph Fries and Marie Merten were married in Slinger, Wisconsin. [2]
She worked in L. Rosenheimer's Store. Adolph ran the hotel and saloon at the corner of E. Washington and Kettle Moraine Drive North. Adoph died in an oil truck accident in 1918. Marie continued to live in the original Merten house until around 1923 when she remarried Edward Mueller. Marie and Edward had one child, Mary Ann Goetz, who is a long-time Slinger resident. After her marriage, Marie rented out the old homestead until her son Richard purchased it from her in August 1951. Richard Fries and his wife Florence continue to occupy the house at 111 Buchanan Street, a house whose age equals that of the village. [3]
They had at two children: Richard John Fries (1917-2012) and Norman J. Fries (1913-1995). [4]
Adolph died on November 15, 1918 at the age of 23. He was buried at St. Peters Catholic Cemetery in Slinger, Wisconsin.[5]
